Saturday, August 1, 2020 – HAPPY JERRY DAY 2020!
“Rabbit Rabbit”
August 1 is the 214th day of the year (leap year). Only 152 days until 2021.

The Warlocks formed in Palo Alto, California, in 1965
August 10th. We are going to post this Blog Post today.
We started it on the 31st and we’ve been adding to it all last week.
“Once in awhile, you get shown the light,
in the strangest of places, if you look at it right.”

Jerry Garcia – Egypt 1978
“There is a road, no simple highway,
between the dawn and the dark of night,
and if you go, no one may follow, that path is for your steps alone”
“Magic is what we do. Music is how we do it.”
Keep on Truckin’
(Grateful Dead 1965-95)
“West L.A. fade away, west l.a. fade away
Big red light on the highway, little green light on the freeway.”

John and Jerry – Gone Too Soon
Jerome John Garcia was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist,
best known for being a principal songwriter, the lead guitarist and a vocalist
with the rock band the Grateful Dead, of which he was a founding member
and which came to prominence during the counterculture of the 1960s – Wikipedia
“I mean, whatever kills you kills you,
and your death is authentic no matter how you die.”
Jerry died from a heart attack on August 9, 1995 at the age of 53.
“When you go down to deep elem to have a little fun
Have your ten dollars ready when the police man comes”

Deadheads for Obama!
WWJD? VOTE BIDEN 2020! VOTE BLUE!
Jerry would have wanted you to VOTE against fascism!
Inside the brown briefcase were miscellaneous papers, as described in Garcia’s arrest report. It was booked as evidence at the Richmond Police Station on Jan. 18, 1985 after police busted Garcia for drug possession in Golden Gate Park.
Shady Grove, my little love
Shady Grove, I know
Shady Grove, my little love
I’m bound for Shady Grove

The Grateful Dead Movie 1977 directed by Jerry Garcia
Dark star crashes, pouring its light into ashes
Reason tatters, the forces tear loose from the axis
Searchlight casting for faults in the clouds of delusion
Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?
Glass hand dissolving in ice, petal flowers revolving
Lady in velvet recedes in the nights of good-bye
Shall we go, you and I while we can
Through the transitive nightfall of diamonds?
There were days
And there were days
And there were days between
Polished like a golden bowl
The finest ever seen
Hearts of Summer held in trust
Still tender, young and green
Left on shelves collecting dust
Not knowing what they mean
Valentines of flesh and blood
As soft as velveteen
Hoping love would not forsake
The days that lie between lie between
“Sometimes the lights all shining on me, other times I can barely see.
Lately it occurs to me what a long strange trip it’s been.”
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked Jerry Garcia 13th
on their list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”
“Don’t cry now, don’t you cry, don’t you cry anymore.
Sleep in the stars, don’t you cry, dry your eyes on the wind.”

Janis Joplin
“I said death don’t have no mercy in this land.
Death will leave you standing and crying in this land”
Jerry was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Grateful Dead in 1994. He didn’t attend the ceremony, so the band brought a cardboard cutout of Garcia on stage for the award. In 2015, Robert Hunter and Garcia were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
“Let there be songs to fill the air!”
“Every silver lining has a touch of grey.”
In 1987, Vermont ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s
named their Cherry Garcia flavor and dedicated it to him.
