Yes, it’s a total tourist thing to do….and we were gifted with FREE activities! All we had to do was attend a Timeshare presentation. We didn’t buy a timeshare, but we did get the Sunset Cruise, a Sailboat/Snorkel Excursion and a free breakfast out of the deal.

We boarded the boat, and were seated with another couple on the open air top deck. The Mai Tais were included with dinner and the cruise, so we were drunk before we left the dock I think. We quickly made friends with the other couple over the drinks. The meal was okay, to the best of my recollection, but the Mai Tais were great and everyone was in a party mood!

Mai Tai

MAI TAI: Serve on the rocks, poured over ice in a highball (or any other cocktail) glass. Ingredients: 8 parts white rum, 4 parts dark rum, 3 parts orange curaçao, 3 parts Orgeat syrup, & 2 parts fresh lime juice. Shake all ingredients except the dark rum with ice. Preparation: Strain into glass, float dark rum onto the top, garnish with pineapple spear, maraschino cherry, plastic sword & paper umbrella. Serve with straw.

Ingredients: 1.5 oz jigger spiced rum, 1.5 oz jigger coconut-flavored rum, 1 teaspoon grenadine syrup, 3 oz pineapple juice & 2 oz orange juice. Preparation: Pour into glass over ice, stir, float dark rum on top, garnish with pineapple spear, maraschino cherry, plastic sword & paper umbrella. Serve with straw.

There was live music onboard, the atmosphere was romantic, and it was a lot of fun. We cruised around on the Pacific ocean, with beautiful views of the harbor and island, had dinner, watched the gorgeous golden tropical sunset, and then returned to the dock. It was a pleasant excursion and I recommend it if you want to get “hammered” on a boat in Hawaii.

The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in 1924 and restored for her centennial on July 4, 1986.

From 1892 to 1954, Ellis Island was America’s largest and most active immigration station for 12 million immigrants who passed through “America’s Golden Door”.  The island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1965, and has hosted a museum of immigration since 1990. A 1998 a U.S. Supreme Court decision found most of the island to be part of New Jersey.
