More Fire Thoughts
We’ve been working on this one all week as updates and reports on the Woolsey and Camp Fires are being released. The damage is beyond horrific! The losses are in the BILLIONS if not TRILLIONS! So many people died because of negligence…..
BIG THANKS TO ALL THE FIREFIGHTERS!

TUESDAY NIGHT UPDATE:
Well, maybe we’ll have Winter next week.

Tuesday 11-13-18 Weather Forecast
Fire “Flare-Up” on Tuesday: Lake Sherwood is burning!
EXTREME FIRE DAMAGE! And potential for major flood damage soon.
The Woolsey fire burned the Santa Susana Field Lab, a federal Superfund site in the Simi Hills – site of the worst nuclear meltdown in US history in 1959.
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control said there was no reason to be concerned of “any risks other than those normally present in a wildfire situation” REALLY?
Physicians for Social Responsibility Los Angeles president Robert Dodge responded to the DTSC: the site now owned by Boeing is still radioactive and polluted despite the agency’s promise to clean it up EIGHT YEARS AGO.
“These toxic materials are in SSFL’s soil and vegetation, and when it burns and becomes airborne in smoke and ash, there is real possibility of heightened exposure for area residents.”

Sugarloaf Peak burned . Can’t say it looks much like the mountain in the Paramount logo, but it is. Also aka “the sleeping elephant”:

“All of our permit files that documented the filming that was going on here are gone,” said Mike Malone, a Park Service veteran. Along with the Western town sets, the Paramount Ranch’s written history was lost when the fire hit the nearby Rocky Oaks facility, where the records were stored.

Camp Hess Kramer’s wood Menorah and plaque honoring founder Rabbi Alfred Wolf are still standing after the Woolsey Fire. Most of the buildings burned and so did most of Camp Hilltop, Camp JCAMalibu also sustained some significant damage. Mon 11:30am report: Calamigos Ranch only lost 4 buildings (out of 70) and was pretty much undamaged. Many homes were lost in Malibu Lake, but some were completely untouched.

California Professional Firefighters President Brian K. Rice issued the following statement following the President’s tweet.:
“The president’s message attacking California and threatening to withhold aid to the victims of the cataclysmic fires is Ill-informed, ill-timed and demeaning to those who are suffering as well as the men and women on the front lines.
“At a time when our every effort should be focused on vanquishing the destructive fires and helping the victims, the president has chosen instead to issue an uninformed political threat aimed squarely at the innocent victims of these cataclysmic fires.
“At this moment, thousands of our brother and sister firefighters are putting their lives on the line to protect the lives and property of thousands. Some of them are doing so even as their own homes lay in ruins. In my view, this shameful attack on California is an attack on all our courageous men and women on the front lines.
“The president’s assertion that California’s forest management policies are to blame for catastrophic wildfire is dangerously wrong. Wildfires are sparked and spread not only in forested areas but in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography. Moreover, nearly 60 percent of California forests are under federal management, and another two-thirds under private control. It is the federal government that has chosen to divert resources away from forest management, not California.
“Natural disasters are not “red” or “blue” – they destroy regardless of party. Right now, families are in mourning, thousands have lost homes, and a quarter-million Americans have been forced to flee. At this desperate time, we would encourage the president to offer support in word and deed, instead of recrimination and blame.”
California Professional Firefighters represents more than 30000 front line firefighters and paramedics in California.

UPDATE NOVEMEBER 20, 2018> REALLY? SHUT THE F*CK UP DONNY!
When Trump visited the fire-ravaged town of Paradise, California where 76 (and counting) Americans died, he called it “Pleasure” not once but twice! Then he lied again and again and again. And continued to make a complete idiot of himself.
