CV! Part 189 – “The Days Between” part one (Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs)
EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING ACROSS THE WESTERN UNITED STATES!
WEARAFUCKING(DOUBLE)MASK! STAYTHEFUCKHOME!
DO NOT TRAVEL! DON’T STOP SOCIAL DISTANCING!
August 1st is Jerry Garcia’s birthday.
August 9th is the anniversary of his death in 1995.
The nine days from August 1st to 9th, are known as “The Days Between”
named for the Grateful Dead’s song on “So Many Roads” released in 1999.
CELEBRATE THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF JERRY GARCIA!

First LIVE performance of “The Days Between”:
February 22, 1993, at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum.
And there were days
And there were days between
Summer flies and August dies
And the world grows dark and mean
Comes the shimmer of the moon
On black infested trees
The singing man is at his song
The holy on their knees
The reckless are out wrecking
The timid plead their pleas
And no one knows much more of this
Than anyone can see, anyone can see
Monday, August 2, 2021 – It’s the 214th day of the year!
NOTE: The TSA reported more than 2.2Million travelers at US Airports
on Sunday, the highest number since the start of the CoronaVirus pandemic.
1:30am: We just finished recapping Sunday night and (we just published)
our previous Blog Post “CV! Part 188 – Happy Jerry Day!”
And we just outlined and set up this Blog Post too.
Time for breakfast for dinner at 2:00am again.
4:20am: We still haven’t eaten dinner…. now it’s breakfast.
We’ve been working on a couple new Blog Posts and we got caught up.
Now we are going to the kitchen and we are going to do some cooking.
There were days
And there were days besides
When phantom ships with phantom sails
Set to sea on phantom tides
Comes the lightning of the sun
On bright unfocused eyes
The blue of yet another day
A springtime wet with sighs
A lonesome candle lingers
In the land of lullabies
Where headless horsemen vanish
With wild and lonely cries, lonely cries
8:15am: We finally made and ate some food around 6:00am.
We hope you’ll read the future Blog Posts we were working on last night.
We drank another iced espresso. We took the dogs outside.
We fed the dogs. We took the dogs outside.
And we got the newspapers. We still haven’t slept.
On The Menu: 3 eggs over medium, bacon, avocado,
watermelon, dill pickle, and a quesadilla with salsa verde
9:05am: MONDAY MORNING PURSUIT! We were watching for 4 minutes…..
9:09am: The Suspect stopped and surrendered, and now the Suspect is in custody.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Crashed Hard.
2:05pm: We waited for the housekeeper to arrive, we got the mail,
then we went to bed with the dogs and we slept until about 2:00pm.
We took the dogs outside after the housekeeper finished.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
7:15pm: We slept some more. Another afternoon nap. It was nice.
We woke up. We drank an iced espresso. The dogs went outside and got fed.
USA! USA! USA! GO TEAM USA! TOKYO 2020 OLYMPICS!
And we were watching the Tokyo 2020 2021 Olympics again.
NBCs coverage totally SUCKS. (and they have a tie-in with Snapchat? WTF?)
Have no idea what event we are watching or who the players are.
NBC thinks that we care about athletes who we don’t even know…..
IT’S AN INTERNATIONAL SPORTS COMPETITION (not just about USA athletes).
AND SO MANY FUCKING COMMERCIALS! It’s just about the advertising now.
And currently they are running the Women’s 400m Hurdles in a MONSOON!
It’s pouring rain on the outdoor Track and Field events.
And we are not entertained, so it’s time to change the channel.
REMEMBER THE MUNICH MASSACRE OF 1972!
The 11 Israeli Olympic team members murdered by Palestinian terrorists
at the 1972 Munich Olympics were finally honored during the
Tokyo 2021 Olympics opening ceremony with a moment of silence
for the first time in 49 years. May their memory be blessed!
- Moshe Weinberg, wrestling coach
- Yossef Romano, weightlifter
- Ze’ev Friedman, weightlifter
- David Berger, weightlifter
- Yakov Springer, weightlifting judge
- Eliezer Halfin, wrestler
- Yossef Gutfreund, wrestling referee
- Kehat Shorr, shooting coach
- Mark Slavin, wrestler
- Andre Spitzer, fencing coach
- Amitzur Shapira, track coach

- And there was one West German police officer killed
in the control tower during a gunfight with the terrorists:
- Anton Fliegerbauer
9:25pm: We took the dog outside. We played with the dog.
We watched some public television (not the sh*tty Olympic coverage)
and we worked on this and our other new Blog Posts.
We just put the dog in the bedroom and now it’s time for our dinner.
NOTE: We did not eat our dinner on Monday.
We didn’t eat anything all day after our early morning breakfast.
Why aren’t we hungry?
Old & In The Way (featuring Jerry Garcia on banjo and vocals)
A bluegrass musical group (and the name of the album) formed in 1973.
Peter Rowan, Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, John Kahn, and Vassar Clements
- “Pig in a Pen”
- “Midnight Moonlight”
- “Old and In the Way”
- “Knockin’ on Your Door”
- “The Hobo Song”
- “Panama Red”
- “Wild Horses”
- “Kissimmee Kid”

Tuesday, August 3, 2021 – It’s TikiTuesday!
It’s National Watermelon Day!
AND IT IS ANOTHER DO NOT TRAVELTUESDAY!

7:10am: Tuesday morning. We just woke up.
Watched the end of an early morning pursuit.
They stopped and surrendered. Two suspects in custody.
The dogs went outside. The dogs got fed.
We made and drank our first cup of espresso of the day.
Drink Coffee. Drink Water. Eat Watermelon.
8:10am: The CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC is all over the news this morning.
Are you Fully Vaccinated*? GET VACCINATED NOW if you haven’t yet!
*FULLY VACCINATED means TWO WEEKS after the second dose!
You are not Fully Vaccinated after the first dose!
You are not Fully Vaccinated until TWO WEEKS AFTER THE SECOND DOSE!
10:35am: We made another cup of espresso. We got the mail.
12:00Noon: We took the dogs outside. It’s HOT and it’s going to get HOTTER.
We are chillin’ with the dogs in the Home Office and thinking about food.
And we watched too much “news” this morning.
12:40pm: And we made another iced espresso.
Time for a some Olympics. And also time for some lunch.
Watermelon is the name of a sweet edible fruit.
It is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family of flowering plants.
Originally from Africa, it is now grown worldwide.
There are more than 1000 varieties of watermelons.
Watermelon has a high water content, it is ~92% water.
Water melon has nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.
Vitamin C, B1, B5 and B6, and A; Potassium, Magnesium,
carotenoids (beta-carotene and lycopene), and citrulline (an amino acid).
1:30pm: Olympic Basketball on NBC!
Spain (España) v. United States of America (USA)
USA wins 95-81….. the game was over 14 HOURS AGO. “Spoiler Alert”
Way to go NBC. Watching the 2nd Quarter now. But GAME OVER.
A short Mini-Rant because this has been bugging us all morning:
KTLA channel 5 in Los Angeles was also warning “Spoiler Alert” this morning.
Mentally challenged US gymnast Simone Biles won the bronze medal for
the individual balance beam event after withdrawing from other events.
BUT if the news anchor says “Spoiler Alert”
and the inset photo is Simone Biles
holding a medal, and the caption reads:
SIMONE BILES WINS BRONZE!
It is pretty much a “SPOILER” instead of a “Spoiler Alert”, right?
8:05pm: Recapping Tuesday afternoon. It was fuckin’ HOT.
We got dressed and went out and got lunch “to go” at The Stand.
We didn’t eat dinner last night, and we only ate a dill pickle this morning.
We brought the food home and ate. Then we fell asleep.
On The Menu: ABC Burger (avocado, bacon, cheese), fries, and a chocolate shake.
Read our previous Blog Post “Dinner at The Stand in Encino” from 2016!
We paid $24 and change for this lunch and it was okay, not great.
We should have gotten a burger at The Habit Grill a few blocks away,
it would have cost half of what we paid, and been better.
Also, the interior of the restaurant is not COVID-19 safe.
TOO MANY PEOPLE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AT THE REGISTER AREA!
We were very uncomfortable while we were inside with so many people.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
There was a pursuit yesterday, the guy got sideways and then kept going! Then he pulled over and surrendered. And there was a pursuit this morning, they stopped and surrendered. And then there was just another pursuit. She tried to escape the helicopter in a total POS. She ran her beater car/home into the ground and had to stop and surrender too, and she left her pitbull in the car for the CHP and Animal Control to deal with.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Tuesday night now. We slept for awhile. We woke up.
The dogs went outside. The dogs got fed.
We got a coke (Coca-Cola in a can) with ice and drank it.
We took the dog outside again.
10:00pm: We just found out the little boy, the “Love Sponge” passed.
We are so very sad. May his memory be a blessing.
And may the Four Winds blow him safely home.
We’re just done for the night.
There were days
And there were days I know
When all we ever wanted
Was to learn and love and grow
When we grew into our shoes
And told them where to go
Walked halfway ’round the world
On promise of the glow
Stood upon a mountain top
Walked barefoot in the snow
Gave the best we had to give
How much we’ll never know, never know
“It always seems impossible until it is done.” – Nelson Mandela
A short list of distractions:
Watch a film or television program you haven’t seen.
Listen to old music. Listen to new music.
YouTube, Facebook Live, Instagram, Vimeo, etc.
Read a book, magazine, or newspaper.
Draw. Paint. Sculpt. Create Art.
Play guitar (or another musical instrument).
Write. Write in your diary/journal. Blog.
Take a walk.

Happy 60th Birthday to President Barack Obama!
COAST GUARD DAY! It’s the United States Coast Guard’s Birthday!
Commemorate the founding of the United States Coast Guard today!
Created as the Revenue Cutter Service on August 4, 1790,
with ten ships to combat smuggling and enforce tariff laws,
by Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton.
2:45am: THERE IS A MOUSE IN THE HOUSE…. WTF?
It must have come in through the hole in the screen door.
We heard a rustling noise from the desk behind us.
We turned around, and there was a mouse on top of the printer!
And it jumped behind the printer and disappeared,
so we cleared the desk behind us of stuff and moved the printer,
NO MOUSE of course.
So it may have escaped the way it got in (good),
or it may still be in the Home Office hiding (not good),
the dog didn’t even wake up, and so we put him in the cage
while we moved everything from on top and under the desk.
Needed dusting anyway, right? Time to reorganize the back desk?
BONUS: We also found some important papers we were looking for.
BONUS: We got access to another power strip + more outlets.
And we think we might move the printer to another place….
Might even create a real “studio background” for Zoom/Youtube.
5:40am: The mouse is still in the Home Office….
We almost got it by the dog’s water bowl but didn’t take the shot.
(we currently have a Louisville Slugger at the ready)
So, it might have found it’s way into the closet (not good).
We have used the time this morning, since we aren’t going to sleep,
to start the ‘Spring Cleaning’ that never happened during the Pandemic…
and so now we are working at “getting sh*t organized.”
National Raisin Bran Day
7:20am: We got the newspapers.
We made and drank a cup of espresso. Drink Coffee. Drink Water.
8:20am: The NBC Tokyo Olympics coverage continues to suck.
We had another shot at the mouse, but we didn’t want to kill it.
We ate a slice of banana bread.
Cheers! It’s National White Wine Day!
Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc. Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chablis,
Chenin Blanc, Sancerre, Albarino, Cava, Champagne, and many more!

JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZ.
12:10pm: We fell asleep and slept.
We just woke up and the Home Office is a mess from this morning.
Chore Boy has a lot of stuff to do now. And it’s HOT out today.
1:40pm: We made an iced espresso. We vacuumed one time.
Watching Olympics Women’s Skateboarding while we clean.
We vacuumed two times.
3:50pm: The Home Office cleaning crusade continues.
4:30pm: Why do we have so many toys? And so many mugs?
4:45pm: FUCK.
5:15pm: FUCK. Time is just flying by today. Another ten minutes gone.
6:40pm: The dogs got fed. The dogs went outside. We ate some food.
On The Menu: Fried chicken breast and corn on the cob.
And a KrispyKreme glazed donut for dessert.
Today was National Single Working Woman’s Day – “YOU GO GIRL!”
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZ. We fell asleep with the dog.
8:50pm: We woke up and took the dog outside.
No sign of the mouse yet today.
We hoped it escaped through the hole in the screen door…..
9:45pm: NOPE. The mouse didn’t escape today.
WARNING: ANIMAL LOVERS SHOULD SKIP THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH.
We just caught it. We went to the kitchen and made an iced espresso.
When we got back to the Home Office, we heard it moving around inside an open top box, and then we saw it, and we tried to cover the box, trap the mouse, to take it outside. But then it jumped out of the box, and then it ran behind the headboard of the bed. We trapped it between the wall and the headboard, and then it quickly succumbed to “blunt force trauma”. RIP. We bagged it and trashed it, and the mouse problem is now history.
And there were days
And there were days between
Polished like a golden bowl
The finest ever seen
Hearts of Summer held in trust
Still tender, young and green
Left on shelves collecting dust
Not knowing what they mean
Valentines of flesh and blood
As soft as velveteen
Hoping love would not forsake
The days that lie between, lie between

BLACKLIVESMATTER!
Thursday, August 5, 2021
It’s National Underwear Day! (so, please don’t go “commando”)
Remembering Marilyn Monroe today.
1:11am: Well we cleaned the Home Office a lot today.
And we took care of the mouse problem.
And Chore Boy will be back later to do more stuff.
AND ALSO, WE HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF.
So, we got stuff here back to normal for now.
And we have the Olympics on with the sound off.
NBC REPEAT (sh*tty) COVERAGE of earlier today:
“The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat”
Listening to music, watching YouTube vids,
working on this Blog Post tonight.
4:20am: We just made and drank an iced espresso. Yes, we’re still awake.
Watching the Olympics Track and Field. Shotput and Triple Jump.
We watched running, and hurdles yesterday.
But we still haven’t seen a full event, because the NBC coverage is CHAOS.
Don’t know any of the athletes, but they are incredible physical specimens!
(We’ve seen pieces of diving, gymnastics, golf, skateboarding, soccer,
volleyball, basketball, and now track and field – but we missed so many events!)
And “mental health” is the media hot word this week.
Thank you Simone Biles.
SEE OUR PREVIOUS BLOG POSTS.
8:25am: And hello morning. We didn’t sleep. Don’t think we slept.
The dogs were barking. The dogs went outside. The dogs got fed.
We got the newspapers.
We drank an iced espresso. Drink Coffee. Drink Water.
Okay, before the dogs woke up, we made breakfast.
We had a bacon cheeseburger and fries left in the fridge.
On The Menu: We made a bacon cheeseburger and fries BURRITO
We took the 2 patties, bacon and cheese and chopped them.
Normally we get lettuce, but it look like they screwed up the order again.
No lettuce. We put the stuff on two flour tortillas, added fries,
added cheese, and heated it up in the toaster oven.
Then we added red onion and salsa verde and ate it up. Pretty good.
So now we’re chilling’ with the dogs in the Home Office.
And thinking about a nap….
11:15am: No nap yet.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZ.
2:50pm: And we’re awake again.
We fell asleep and took that nap.
Why don’t they play the washboard anymore?
Just a random question.
We took the dog outside. It’s HOT out again.
3:15pm: We made an iced espresso.
Drink More Coffee. Drink More Water.
Wild fires are raging up in Northern California and Oregon.
Yuba, Placer and Nevada Counties are burning.
The historic Gold Rush town of Greenfield was totally destroyed by fire today.
100 large fires have burned 1,947,811+ acres in 14 states!
4:45pm: We made an iced mocha/coffee shake with vanilla ice cream.
And we are hoping for a high speed pursuit right now.
Our Top Story Tonight! CORONAVIRUS! DELTA VARIANT!
“COVID SURGE!” Vaccine Requirements and Mandates!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx NOPE. Not going to go there now.
5:45pm: We took the dogs outside. We fed the dogs supper.
We took the dogs outside. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!
NOTE: We don’t usually censor our Blog Posts.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Okay, now we’re done.
Another short rant:
FFS. It’s COVID-19. Delta Variant. (so sick of this now)
Remove restrictions, relax requirements, and pretend the pandemic is over….
AND THEN WONDER WHY THE DISEASE IS SPREADING. Hmmmm?
Open indoor dining, gyms, public spaces.
Have concerts, parties, and sporting events.
Send children back-to-school.
AND THEN WONDER WHY THE DISEASE IS SPREADING. Hmmmm?
Tell people it’s okay to take off masks, and that it’s okay to gather again.
Half the population is still not FULLY VACCINATED! WTF?
HAVE YOU SEEN THE PICTURES FROM LAS VEGAS?
Unmasked, unvaccinated tourists by the thousands in public!
And then everyone goes home with the virus to wherever on Sunday.
AND THEN WONDER WHY THE DISEASE IS SPREADING. Hmmmm?
Now that the Delta Variant is killing the unvaccinated, maybe that will change.
“Ask and you shall receive.”
Pursuit started in Glendale ended in Elysian Park. FIVE ARMED SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY after crashing their Compton Clown Car. They got airborne after hitting the curb and losing control. They had a head-on with a telephone pole. Flipped a couple more times and then they all crawled out with their hands up into the waiting arms of the Glendale PD with AR-15s and Attack Dogs.
And they are lucky that they are just under arrest.
(Update: Tonight the entire neighborhood is without power. Total Blackout!)
6:15pm: We need another nap.
JoshWillTravel: ZZZZZZZZZZZ.
8:45pm: And now we are awake again. Time to eat.
10:25pm: We made some food.
On The Menu: Fried chicken breast, dill pickle, celery and carrot sticks,
strawberries and an iced espresso to drink
10:55pm: WE GOT ANOTHER PURSUIT! And then they lost him in DTLA….
He drove into the 3rd street tunnel and didn’t come out. WTF?
We took the dog outside. And it’s almost Friday.
And there were days
And there were days between
Polished like a golden bowl
