On this day in 753 BC: Romulus and Remus found Rome.
On this day in 1918: “The Red Baron” Manfred von Richthofen was shot down and killed in Vaux sur Somme, France by Canadian pilot Arthur Roy Brown.
On this day in 1956: Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel” hit #1. Thank you very much.

1:45am: The morning after. And it’s only 2:00am.
We fell asleep after 10:30pm with the dog and just woke up.
We took the dog outside.
And we got something in our right eye, and it’s really irritating.

1:00pm: And now we have a very RED EYE today. Like, seek medical attention time.
We watched Marvel’s “Avengers- Endgame” finally this morning.
And then we took the dog outside and the dogs got fed. And then we went to bed.
We hoped our eye would be better, but it’s not. And it’s swollen and hurts too.
FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.FUCK.
And we drank a cup of espresso. Drink Coffee. Drink Water.

2:00pm: We made another cup of espresso and ate two mini-bran muffins.
The mobile groomer is here today to wash, cut, and do a teeth cleaning for the dogs.
3:00pm: The gardener is here now, the dogs are back in the Home Office.
They are clean, beautiful and happy. We calmed them down, took them outside,
and now they are in the bedroom while the gardener does his thing.

Recapping Wednesday:
It kinda sucked. Then we got hungry.
We watched TV and surfed the interweb. Our right eye was all fucked up.
Not the vision, but it’s red and irritated, and annoying.
Periodically during the day we flush it with warm water.
Sometime after 9:00pm we turned off the lights and laid down, and fell asleep.

On The Menu: Pizzatime! We ordered an early pizza delivery, around 6:00pm.
And an extra-large pepperoni and sausage pizza appeared – YUM YUM!

Thursday, April 22, 2021 – HAPPY EARTH DAY!
This year’s theme is “Restoration of the Environment”
LOVE YOUR MOTHER EARTH! RESTORE OUR EARTH!
Take action today to help end plastic pollution, fight climate change
and Global Warming, and protect our land, air, water, and wildlife!

Earth is approximately 4.6 billion years old. The oldest known rocks are about 4 billion years old (rocks older than 3 billion years are rare) and the oldest fossils of living organisms are less than 3.9 billion years old. With a radius of 3,959 miles, Earth is the biggest of the known terrestrial planets, and the fifth largest in our solar system.

But afraid we may lay our home to waste”

The name “Earth” is at least 1,000 years old and it is the only planet whose name doesn’t come from from Greek or Roman mythology. The name is from Old English and Germanic origins and means “ground”.

Nature is a Mother….
figure-01-seismo_lab-news-web

71 Percent of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Earth’s atmosphere is 77% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, with traces of argon, carbon dioxide and water (H20). Earth’s oceans have an average depth of about 2.5 miles and contains 97 percent of the planet’s water. Earth has a central (inner and outer) core, a rocky mantle and a solid crust.

9:40am: We went to bed again after 6:00am and slept for a couple hours.
We woke up. The dogs went outside. The dogs got fed breakfast.
We drank a cup of espresso. And our eye is a little better this morning.
Doesn’t look better, but it feels a lot better today. Just going to wait it out.
It’s gray outside this morning, and not sunny yet.

You can visit the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, California

Fun Facts about Jelly Beans:

Became popular in the 1860s, when William Schrafft, a Boston candy maker,
encouraged people to send jelly beans to Union soldiers fighting the Civil War.

Jelly beans were originally a popular Christmas candy.
The candy became an Easter staple in the 1930s because of its egg shape.

Jelly beans were once sold separately by color.
And they were the first candy sold by weight instead of by the piece.
It can take seven to twenty-one days to make jelly beans.

The blueberry-flavored Jelly Belly was created for Ronald Reagan’s inauguration.
Jelly beans were his favorite candy and they have even been to space (thanks to Reagan).

Enough jelly beans to circle the Earth five times are eaten every year!

Jelly Bean Shot

Ingredients:
1/2 oz Blackberry Brandy (or Grenadine)
1/2 oz Anisette (or Sambuca, anise-flavored liqueur)
1/2 oz Southern Comfort

Directions:
Pour Brandy (or Grenadine) into a tall shot glass
Float the Anisette (or Sambuca) on top of the Brandy
Float the Southern Comfort on top of the Anisette
Serve and enjoy

How to “Float” (Bartending 101):
Hold a bar spoon upside down over the drink and rest the spoon’s tip on the inner edge of the glass, just above the top of the liquid. Slowly pour over the back of the bar spoon and onto the top of the previous ingredient. Move the spoon up as the liquor level rises.

The key is in the three layers of liqueurs: poured on top of each other in order with the heaviest on the bottom and the lightest on top. “Float” the liqueurs by pouring them over the back of a bar spoon. This creates a pretty triple-layered shot. The ingredients have specific densities that make the separation easy. The greater the density difference, the more defined their separation. Density is determined by the sugar and alcohol content. Grenadine is one of the heaviest mixers used for cocktails and will almost always sink to the bottom of the glass, even if it is the last ingredient added.
NOTE: The Anisette will give the drink a “black licorice” jelly bean taste.

Jägermeister is a type of liqueur called Kräuterlikör (herbal liqueur).
You can substitute it for the Anisette/Sambuca or just do a shot or two of Jäger!
“Jägermeister is a digestif made with 56 herbs and spices. Developed in 1934 by Wilhelm and Curt Mast, it has an alcohol by volume of 35%. The recipe has not changed since its creation and continues to be served in its signature green glass bottle.” – from wikipedia

We ate two slices of cold leftover pizza. We watched the news. We surfed the interweb. And that’s Thursday right? It’s all good today. We woke up from our nap and the housekeeper was gone and the house is clean. The dogs are happy and they were groomed yesterday, so they are pretty clean too.
And the dogs just went outside again.

Earth orbits the sun and completes one daily rotation every 23.9 hours. It takes 365.25 days to complete a one year trip around the sun.  The Earth’s axis is tilted 23.4 degrees to the plane of the planet’s orbit around the sun and this causes the cycle of seasons.

Earth is the only known planet that has a single moon. The moon is (an average distance of) 238,855 miles away from Earth.

New hotels/casinos Circa and Virgin are OPEN! Summertime is coming!
The new Resorts World (Hilton/Conrad/Conracks) is scheduled to open in June.
Restrictions and Regulations have been relaxed, or ignored, or been given lip service.
The Low-Rollers keep coming to spend their stimulus money and take a cheap vacation.
The hotels are re-opening what was closed, taking reservations, and everyone is hiring!
Businesses are having a hard time finding low-wage employees now.
It’s very hard to get an UBER or LYFT, because there aren’t enough drivers working.
And there’s a shortage of rental cars, as we mentioned previously, so rates are sky high.

12:50pm: Hello Friday! We went to bed early and woke up late.
We took the dogs outside. The dogs got fed. We took the dogs outside again.
We went back to sleep with the dogs. We woke up and drank a cup of espresso.
We took the dogs outside again. And now we’re in the Home Office chillin’.

1:35pm: We took the dogs outside again. Now time for some lunch.
On The Menu: 3 toasted mini-bagels with lox, cream cheese, and lettuce, dill pickle,
and cran-raspberry-orange juice to drink

5:25pm: Friday evening. Another week. Another weekend.
Waiting for our second shot….. staying home. Staying healthy.
No parties. No dinners out. No going out in public except when necessary.
We should have done some errands today, but we said f*ck it.
We hung out with the dogs. We took the dogs outside. We took a nap.

There were TWO PURSUITS this afternoon!
The first was over quickly, guy stole a Fire Truck – Battalion Chief’s SUV, and then he pulled over when the tires got flat and surrendered. The second dude, a DUI suspect (who was seen drinking during the chase) called the cops on himself, then ran it up from freeway to surface streets, through traffic, and all around town, before they finally PIT maneuvered him.
And he was just sitting there on the curb (not complying with officer’s orders) until the K-9 unit arrived and then he quickly surrendered when the dog started barking. HAHA.
Screen Shot 2021-04-23 at 14.47.23

5:50pm: We just set up the dogs’ supper in the kitchen and now it’s feeding time.

6:25pm: And the dogs are fed. And we took them outside on both sides.
Now we’re all back chilling’ in the Home Office watching “BBC World News”
and network and local news too.
6:50pm: And now they’re all asleep. It’s like having happy tired children.
GOOD SHABBOS EVERYONE! We’re getting hungry for our dinner now.

And there was another pursuit! We didn’t watch it, and it was over before we tuned in.
A suspected carjacker was being tracked and he just pulled over and surrendered.

AND DOES ANYONE CARE ABOUT THE OSCARS?
The Academy Awards are happening on Sunday. Who’s going to watch?
Elton John is having his Oscar party online and everyone’s invited for $.
(of course the money goes to charity)
We don’t know who’s nominated, or why. We heard “diversity” which is hilarious.
The OSCARS ARE SO WHITE and SO “INDUSTRY INSIDER” RUN.
At least Harvey Weinstein is in prison. We hate the ceremony for it’s ADVERTISING.
Both onstage, onscreen, and during the many commercials. Even the Red Carpet is just product placement and advertising – “promote your sh*t to the public” is the game.
And we’ll have an awards show where we give each other prizes for “best whatever”….

10:35pm: We ate a little cheese and a toasted croissant. We drank an iced espresso.
We took the dogs outside again. Now it’s time for dinner. What shall we have to eat?

We never did decide what to eat.
Instead we ate a black&white cookie and called that dinner.
