Oregon just halted their premature re-opening as reported cases spiked!
Many other states are seeing cases spike too. The “Memorial Day Spike” is still part of the first wave of this disease! 116000 Reported Deaths and another 100000 people could die before September! Trump and the Federal Government aren’t even talking about it anymore. They are more than ready to let you and your family die a horrible death. Cases are spiking in South Carolina, Florida, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Kentucky, New Mexico, North Carolina, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Puerto Rico. Arizona is in the middle of a health emergency and ran out of hospital beds….
THERE IS STILL NO FEDERAL TESTING OR TRACKING! States are on their own.
Some health figures are not being reported correctly…. and so many people haven’t even been tested, so there really is no way of knowing how bad the spread really is!
There are still shortages, medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) are still not available in sufficient quantity to everyone who needs them. Now they need glass vials if there’s a vaccine. Masks, swabs, gowns, gloves, face shields, ventilators, and all kinds of other equipment. And there are also drug shortages thanks to crazy medical advice from a certain “not a doctor”, who promotes medicines that his family and friends are invested in that don’t do anything to cure the virus and in fact may fucking KILL the patient. So what else do you have to lose?

We were up very early. Very early AM.
We made some bacon and toasted 2 mini-croissants.
We took care of the dogs, they got fed.
We got the newspapers and the mail.
We went to the market and bought food.
We came home and cleaned and sanitized.
The housekeeper came today, surprise!
And we took a nap. And then we woke up.
We took the dogs outside, Hello 5:00pm.
We’re having a heatwave.
Setting heat records in Los Angeles this week.
It was HOT, like HOT-HOT-HOT all week long.
And it’s gonna be hot all next week too.
We had Chinese food delivered for dinner. And it was good.
On The Menu: Kung pao chicken, orange peel beef, chicken and stringbeans, egg rolls, steamed rice and a mango nectar drink (no pics tonight)
SANTA MONICA AFTER THE LOOTING – (A RANT)
WHAT A DISASTER! The news isn’t even showing how bad it was! How was this allowed to happen? Someone should be fired. The Chief of Police needs to resign! If she doesn’t resign, she should be fired. More than 180 businesses were looted and/or damaged! There was no warning for merchants and no police plan from start to finish. Total FAIL! She can try to worm her way out and explain it, but it was a total fail. Anyone who watched the looting live knows there was zero police response and it was a total tactical failure. They looted guns, jewelry, shoes, clothes, sunglasses and then set fires with impunity, while the SMPD watched. They filled their cars and drove away. And then they arrested peaceful protesters. We’ll also add that this exposes the lack of emergency preparedness in case of other events, such as an earthquake. Is there a plan for police and fire response when a big one hits? Has it been reviewed and tested? Obviously there wasn’t a plan for looting or protests… And who let the protesters walk back into the city after it was on fire with looters running wild? And why were police cars left unguarded on the streets? Again, because there was no preparation or plan. How much does each car cost? And who is going to pay for it? What happened to the weapons inside? They are posing for pictures with the burning and vandalized Sheriff’s cars by the way. Tell me one thing the SMPD did to prevent looting or vandalism?
We were posting live as it was happening.
There is no defending the Chief of Police and her total failure to protect the city. No one was killed, and that was just lucky, because it was total chaos. The looting started before 1:30pm and continued until after dark. SMPD never got control and they even failed to protect the Third Street Promenade, which they had fenced off and where they had posted units. Leaving Santa Monica Place unguarded after the looting started was just one more failure. Stores were completely looted and set on fire before the police even knew they were being robbed. Anyone watching any of the news reports or live cams knew exactly what was happening in real time, and the police should have been stationed on every corner, and the motorcycle units should have been responding instead of being parked on Montana.

3:00pm: Remember we said “burnout”, well we needed just a little time.
Very little time.
So FUCK. Is it Sunday yet?
No, it’s only Friday afternoon and we’re already saying FUCK.
We got woken up by the dogs barking more than once this morning….. FUCK.
WHEN WE GET WOKEN UP REPEATEDLY IT PUTS US IN A VERY BAD MOOD.
6:00pm: We took an afternoon nap, and got woken up again. FUCK. FUCK. FUCK.
The mobile dog groomers came this morning and 3 of our dogs got prettied.
The gardener showed up today, so then the dogs had to be contained all day.
And the plumber came back for another visit to finish fixing the toilet.
NOTE: We cannot imagine the risk of being a “service” person, having to work regardless of health condition or concerns, and having to interface with people in their homes, who may be or are sick… and once again hats off to all the doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers in the line of fire! – and there is still no plan or leadership.
On the Menu: Leftover Chinese food for Friday night dinner. Good Shabbos!

The Tioga Road will open June 15 at 9 am, conditions permitting.

After 55 years in business, the iconic Oahu, Hawaii, south shore landmark Top of Waikiki restaurant has closed (due to Coronavirus). Tourists were 80% of their business.
The Coachella and Stage Coach music festivals in 2020 are no longer postponed, they are now cancelled. And of course Burning Man 2020 is still cancelled.
