The First Amendment of the Constitution prohibits any law abridging freedom of speech, infringing on freedom of the press, interfering with right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting petitioning for a redress of grievances. (and there’s also something about religion too)

Trump has turned The White House into a Fort, erecting 2 miles of fencing and calling in the National Guard, mercenaries from Blackwater, unmarked uniformed officers who say they are from the Department of Justice and are actually Texas prison guards and anyone they could get to come to Washington DC to start a civil war. Trump still wants to call in active military troops to invade United States cities and kill protesters.
A bully hiding in a bunker using the military to bully the people who oppose him.
The police beat civilians, they beat the press, they beat the foreign press.
The police arrested and beat people exercising their First Amendment rights.
“Law and Order” Trump wants to “dominate” the public protests. He is a joke. He is a criminal. He attacked peaceful protesters for a photo op! He needs to RESIGN now.

We watched the protests on the interweb. There was a noticeable drop-off in actual coverage of the protest, shifting to stories of poor citizens victimized by criminals recovering from looting and interviews with clergy and psychologist about BLM.
Such bullshit. The news media didn’t give a shit about BLM until everyone else did.
And some media is still shilling for law enforcement, Trump and the GOP.

We also spent the day on Twitter, retweeting scenes of Police Brutality and Police Violence on peaceful protesters across the country. The images and videos of abuse and harassment are terrifying! There sure are a lot of “BAD APPLES” and there sure are a lot of cops who support them. Beatings with metal clubs and batons, shooting civilians with deadly “non-lethal” bullets and pepper balls, unconstitutional arrests, and more disgusting behavior! Even video of cops spitting on zipped protesters and other cops laughing about it, while other cops stand and watch and do nothing…
TOO MANY DO NOTHING!
And everyone has seen the video of the 75 year old white man shoved to the ground by police, knocked out and bleeding from his head, as other officers look on, walk by, fail to even check on him, and arrest other protesters and threaten the people filming.

And we need GPS locaters and working body cams for every cop on duty.
Because the stuff they catch on camera is only a drop in the bucket of police abuse.

Too many police officers are not properly educated and trained for the job.
And WAY TOO MANY are not mentally or emotionally fit to be an officer of the law.

Saturday, June 6, 2020 – D-Day!
What did we do today? We woke up too early. And we were up for hours.
And then we went to bed and slept a little. We woke up and it was Saturday.
We tuned in to the protests across the country and it was amazing to watch.
Thousands protested peacefully in Los Angeles on Saturday!

There were THOUSANDS of people in the streets of Hollywood!
There were protests all over Los Angeles on Sunday (just like Saturday), except they were larger than ever! The Hollywood protest (tweeted by rapper YZ) grew to 20000+ people!
The protest marchers stretched from Highland to Vine, up Vine to Yucca,
and there were more people joining from all directions! They built a small memorial in the intersection at Hollywood and Highland, marched past the Dolby Theatre, and all over Hollywood before heading for the West Hollywood Sheriff Station.

There was such a backlash to the use of National Guard, military, and Barr’s “DOJ Police” shadow force (secret service, park police, prison guards, border agents, FBI, DEA, ATF, and the mercenary “contractors”) that even the Generals are calling him dangerous.
All active duty military and most National Guard troops are being withdrawn.
And the police are being heavily scrutinized after the brutality witnessed by everyone.
Questions about the constitutionality of using active duty military against citizens, the “Curfews” and restricting people to their homes to prevent protests.

So what has the protesting accomplished?
👉🏾Within 10 days of sustained protests:
Minneapolis bans use of choke holds.
👉🏾Charges are upgraded against Officer Chauvin, and his accomplices are arrested and charged.
👉🏾Dallas adopts a “duty to intervene” rule that requires officers to stop other cops who are engaging in inappropriate use of force.
👉🏾New Jersey’s attorney general said the state will update its use-of-force guidelines for the first time in two decades.
👉🏾In Maryland, a bipartisan work group of state lawmakers announced a police reform work group.
👉🏾Los Angeles City Council introduces motion to reduce LAPD’s $1.8 billion operating budget.
👉🏾MBTA in Boston agrees to stop using public buses to transport police officers to protests.
👉🏾Police brutality captured on cameras leads to near-immediate suspensions and firings of officers in several cities (i.e., Buffalo, Ft. Lauderdale).
👉🏾Monuments celebrating confederates are removed in cities in Virginia, Alabama, and other states.
👉🏾Street in front of the White House is renamed “Black Lives Matter Plaza.”
Military forces begin to withdraw from D.C.
Then, there’s all the other stuff that’s hard to measure:
💓The really difficult public and private conversations that are happening about race and privilege.
💓The realizations some white people are coming to about racism and the role of policing in this country.
💓The self-reflection.
💓The internal battles exploding within organizations over issues that have been simmering or ignored for a long time. Some organizations will end as a result, others will be forever changed or replaced with something stronger and fairer.
Globally:
🌎 Protests against racial inequality sparked by the police killing of George Floyd are taking place all over the world.
🌎 Rallies and memorials have been held in cities across Europe, as well as in Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and New Zealand.
🌎 As the US contends with its second week of protests, issues of racism, police brutality, and oppression have been brought to light across the globe.
🌎 People all over the world understand that their own fights for human rights, for equality and fairness, will become so much more difficult to win if we are going to lose America as the place where ‘I have a dream’ is a real and universal political program,” Wolfgang Ischinger, a former German ambassador to the US, told the New Yorker.
🌎 In France, protesters marched holding signs that said “I can’t breathe” to signify both the words of Floyd, and the last words of Adama Traoré, a 24-year-old black man who was subdued by police officers and gasped the sentence before he died outside Paris in 2016.
🌎 Cities across Europe have come together after the death of George Floyd:
✊🏽 In Amsterdam, an estimated 10,000 people filled the Dam square on Monday, holding signs and shouting popular chants like “Black lives matter,” and “No justice, no peace.”
✊🏽 In Germany, people gathered in multiple locations throughout Berlin to demand justice for Floyd and fight against police brutality.
✊🏾 A mural dedicated to Floyd was also spray-painted on a stretch of wall in Berlin that once divided the German capital during the Cold War.
✊🏿 In Ireland, protesters held a peaceful demonstration outside of Belfast City Hall, and others gathered outside of the US embassy in Dublin.
✊🏿In Italy, protesters gathered and marched with signs that said “Stop killing black people,” “Say his name,” and “We will not be silent.”
✊🏾 In Spain, people gathered to march and hold up signs throughout Barcelona and Madrid.
✊🏾 In Athens, Greece, protesters took to the streets to collectively hold up a sign that read “I can’t breathe.”
✊🏾 In Brussels, protesters were seen sitting in a peaceful demonstration in front of an opera house in the center of the city.
✊🏾In Denmark, protesters were heard chanting “No justice, no peace!” throughout the streets of Copenhagen, while others gathered outside the US embassy.
✊🏾 In Canada, protesters were also grieving for Regis Korchinski-Paquet, a 29-year-old black woman who died on Wednesday after falling from her balcony during a police investigation at her building.
✊🏾 And in New Zealand, roughly 2,000 people marched to the US embassy in Auckland, chanting and carrying signs demanding justice.
💐 Memorials have been built for Floyd around the world, too. In Mexico City, portraits of him were hung outside the US embassy with roses, candles, and signs.
💐 In Poland, candles and flowers were laid out next to photos of Floyd outside the US consulate.
💐 And in Syria, two artists created a mural depicting Floyd in the northwestern town of Binnish, “on a wall destroyed by military planes.”
Before the assassination of George Floyd some of you were able to say whatever the hell you wanted and the world didn’t say anything to you…

Captain America literally fought Nazis. He is the embodiment of fighting the alt-right. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Captain America.
The Empire in Star Wars is facist. The Rebel alliance are Anti-Facist. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Star Wars.
The Punisher isn’t meant to be a role model for police or armed forces. So much so that the writers of The Punisher made him actively speak out against it in a comic. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get The Punisher.
Deadpool is queer. He’s pansexual. Fact. If you didn’t get that you didn’t get Deadpool.
Star Trek is about equality for all genders, races and sexualities. As early as the mid-60s it was taking a pro-choice stance and defending women’s right to choose. One of its clearest themes is accepting different cultures and appearances and working together for peace. (It’s also anti-capitalist and pro-vegan). If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Star Trek.
Superman and Supergirl (and a whole host of other superheroes) are immigrants. The stance of those comics is pro-immigration and pro-equality and acceptance. If you didn’t get that, you didn’t get Superman or Supergirl.
Stan Lee said “Racism and bigotry are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today.” If you’re bigoted or racist, you didn’t get any of the characters Stan Lee created.
The stories we grew up with all taught us to value other people and cultures and to treasure the differences between us. Only villains were xenophobic, or sexist, or racist, or totalitarian. I can’t understand how anyone can have missed that.
If you’re upset that there’s a black Spider-Man, or a black Captain America, or a female Thor, or that Ms Marvel is Muslim, or that Captain Marvel was pro-feminism, or any of the other things right wing “fans” say is “stealing their childhood” – you never got it in the first place. The things you claim are now “pandering to the lefties” were never on your side to begin with.
If you consider yourself a fan of these things, but you still think the LGBTQ+ community is too “in your face”, or have a problem with Black Lives Matter, or want to “take the country back from immigrants”, then you’re not really a fan at all.
Geek culture isn’t suddenly left wing… it always was. You just grew up to be intolerant. You became the villain in the stories you used to love.
