FROSCH ACQUIRES WILLETT TRAVEL press release

BIG NEWS! Maybe not for you, but it is for me:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FROSCH ACQUIRES WILLETT TRAVEL

New York (March 20, 2014) – Travel management company, FROSCH, has acquired Willett Travel, effective April 2014.

“Our growth over the past twenty seven years is an accomplishment of which I am extremely proud, but nothing compares to the honor I feel knowing that Willett Travel has earned a wonderful reputation for its integrity, professionalism, and consideration of clients and staff alike,” says Tama Taylor Holve, owner of Willett Travel.

Holve continues, “Like so many industries, change is constant in travel. To join a great company with superior technology, ‘economy of scale’ benefits to both clients and staff, is a welcome, necessary change.  To become part of FROSCH, owned by the respected Leibman Family, and have these business tools and supportive FROSCH team members is wonderful — that FROSCH embraces the same values of integrity, professionalism and caring that have been the foundation of Willett Travel is a gift.”

Bryan Leibman, President & CEO of FROSCH adds, “Willett Travel has earned a tremendous reputation in the industry over the past 70 years. Tama Taylor Holve and the whole Willett Team have garnered much respect and friendship from their travel partners and clients, and we are proud to stand with her legacy moving forward.”

Established in 1943, Willett Travel is one of Los Angeles’ oldest agencies, with owner Tama Taylor Holve and her great team continuing a long tradition of dedication to service built on a solid foundation and enhanced with today’s technology and expertise. Through the ensuing years, Willett became experts in touring and production travel for the entertainment industry.  While Willett’s client list may read like a list of “Who’s Who,” its focus remained clear — treat every client like a celebrity.

From 1987, when the present ownership began, the company has grown from a staff of 9 to 65, and from $2.5M in sales to nearly $25M.  Willett has received numerous honors through the years, including being named “The Number One, Woman Owned Business in the San Fernando Valley” by the Los Angeles Business Journal and chosen as the “Best Travel Agency in the San Fernando Valley and Ventura County” in the Los Angeles
Times
 Readers’ Poll.

I was invited to the Travel Massive Los Angeles event last month, but time and traffic prevented me from attending. So last night, on a cool Tuesday evening in March, I drove over the hill and down to the Miracle Mile for the event at The Roof at The Hotel Wilshire.

Sunday at the Los Angeles Music Center

Los Angeles Music Center – Downtown Los Angeles – Sunday Afternoon

Dorothy Chandler Pavilion – 3,197 seats:  Opened on December 6, 1964, with then twenty-eight-year-old Zubin Mehta conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

On Sunday, May 4, 1969, “Peace on Earth” by Jacques Lipchitz was dedicated in the plaza. His sculpture portrays a dove descending to earth with the spirit of peace, symbolized by the Madonna standing inside a tear shaped canopy, supported by a base of reclining lambs within the fountain. The architects of The Music Center, Welton Becket and Associates, opposed placing sculpture in the plaza between the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Mark Taper Forum. However after a two-year search, the Art Committee of The Music Center commissioned Lipchitz. Today, no work of public art in Los Angeles is more photographed.

Mark Taper Forum Theatre – 739 seats:  Opened in 1967, and renovated in 2007, the perfectly circular Taper features a distinctive design of a decorated drum with its exterior wrapped in a beautiful precast relief by Jacques Overhoff.

Ahmanson Theater – 1,600 to 2,007 seats based on configuration: Opened April 12, 1967 and renovated in 1994.

Walt Disney Concert Hall – 2,265 seats (photo from another day): Opened October 24, 2003, designed by Frank Gehry, Lillian Disney made an initial gift of $50 million in 1987 to build a performance venue as a gift to the people of Los Angeles and a tribute to Walt Disney’s devotion to the arts and to the city.

The L.A. Music Center (officially named the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County) is located in downtown Los Angeles. The Music Center is home to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ahmanson Theater, the Mark Taper Forum Theatre, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Each year, The Music Center welcomes more than 1.3 million people to performances by its four internationally renowned resident companies: the L.A. Philharmonic, the L.A. Opera, the L.A. Master Chorale and the Center Theatre Group (CTG) as well as other performances, community events, arts festivals, outdoor concerts, participatory arts activities, workshops, and educational programs.

Big Thanks to the LUXE Hotel On Sunset, the On Sunset Restaurant and LWH Hotels for the wonderful brunch! I love this hotel. It’s a beautiful property! You can take the full photographic tour in my other blogs, there are a couple of links at the bottom of this page. This blog is just about the brunch and the delicious food and drink that we enjoyed today.

250 Blog Posts! A Milestone and an Accomplishment!

Monday 10 March 2014 3:04am

It’s Daylight Savings Time again and this is my 250 Blog Post on wordpress! And we just celebrated our One Year Anniversary. I’m pretty sure that’s some kind of accomplishment.

It’s been a good experience sharing my experiences. I blogged “Pic of the Day” for a solid six months. There are one picture blogs and very long blogs (the longest is the road trip from Los Angeles to San Jose); there are blogs about travel, hotel visits, restaurants and special events; and there are blogs about Los Angeles. I’ve been posting mostly for my own amusement and as a record of the good times I’ve been having, and I hope you’ve enjoyed them. Thank you to all my FOLLOWERS here!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my blog. There are some changes afoot and fun times ahead.
